TaShemau offers product evaluation programs for selected customers to validate Y-Key performance under real operating conditions. Evaluation projects includes baseline measurement, coated-module comparison, performance monitoring, and a mutually agreed upon performance statement.
Evaluate Y-Key under real operating conditions.
Y-KEY Field Performance
On average, the Y-Key coated PV string produced ~50% more electricity than the uncoated reference string.

Test site:
Test Site: Roof-Top assets in an industrial facility
Location: Qalyubiyya Governorate (Egypt, moderate climate)
Evaluation Details:
Side-by-Side comparison of the energy output of two strings (21modules each); One string was cleaned and coated with Y-Key, the other was cleaned and left as a reference (No coating)
Output data was collected during the morning and the afternoon.
Evaluation started since 15 Feb.’26

Y-KEY is designed to unlock more value from PV modules
It is a hot-climate PV yield-protection and asset-life upgrade for solar owners applied as a thin passive coating to the backside of PV modules.
Product Description
Y-Key is a passive coating applied to the backside of PV modules to enhance solar asset performance. It is designed for PV owners, developers, EPCs, O&M providers, and industrial energy users seeking to increase energy output and improve the lifetime economics of solar installations.
What Y-Key Does?
Y-Key has TWO distinct functions:
Unlocks more energy yield
Protects the asset and contributes to enhancing its lifetime.
Y-Key extracts higher energy yield from PV modules by adding a passive material layer to the backside of the module that reduces the module temperature by radiating within a certain energy spectrum . Y-Key can be applied either as a retrofit to installed PV assets or during the manufacturing of the PV modules.

Y-Key does not only unlock more yield from the PV assets it also provides more protection from the environment and is projected to increase the asset life time by ~30%.
The benefit of the cooling function of the Y-Key exceeds energy yield improvement to include reduction in the thermal cycling the PV module experiences under hot weather operation. Thermal cycling induces degradation due to:
Different temperature coefficients of PV module components
Defects at soldering joints
Discoloration of encapsulate materials

Why Y-KEY?
Provides higher energy yield WITHOUT the need for added new capacity (PV modules, invertors, cables, frames, land, .. etc)
Helps improve solar asset lifetime value
Designed for backside PV module application
Passive durable solution with no moving parts
Does not require changes to the PV electrical architecture
Field-Proven performance
Suitable as a retrofit of exiting assets
Who Y-Key is designed for?
Utility-scale solar developers
Industrial solar asset owners
Commercial rooftop PV owners
EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) companies
Operations & Maintenance (O&M) providers
Energy service companies
PV module manufacturers and integrators

Applications
Y-KEY is best suited for application on mono-facial PV modules:
Retrofitting existing PV plants
Enhancing new PV installations
Industrial solar systems
Utility-scale solar farms
Hot-climate PV deployments
Performance recovery programs

Benefit 1: More Lifetime Yield
Helps solar assets produce more value over time.
Benefit 2: Retrofit-Compatible
Designed for potential application to installed PV modules, subject to site conditions and evaluation.
Benefit 3: Passive Solution
No moving parts, no change to the core PV electrical design and no power consumption.
Benefit 4: Asset-Value Focused
Supports improved project economics through additional energy generation WITHOUT added capacity or components.
